My Odyssey: Home Depot and Overspending
By Advisor on Jan 18, 2008 in Shopping
If you’ve ever been inside the Home Depot, you know exactly what I’m talking about – the place is huge and if you do not know exactly what you are getting and why you are getting it, it can be an incredibly upsetting, incredibly draining experience setting foot inside. The bathroom shower section is bigger than most grocery stores alone. So, the other day I needed to visit the Home Depot and pick up a few things for a remodel in my kitchen – nothing major, just some paint and shelf brackets.
Fast forward four hours and I leave with two bathroom scales, one of those new shower enclosures and about $2000 in lumber that I still don’t know what I’m going to do with. My wife gave me the go ahead and the house is in need of a small bathroom makeover too…not that any of that gave me good cause to spend so much money so rapidly in such a short period of time. At least I’ll be nice and busy for the next few weekends putting all of this stuff to good use. Should have just stayed home and shopped online, done a bit of price comparisons – I would have saved a bundle!
